One life doesn’t feel like the whole story. You arrive already formed — your temperament, your fears, the particular way you notice things — and none of it was chosen. Which raises a question most people never ask: where from?
And then there is the other end. Someone spends eighty years becoming wiser, kinder, more patient — and then it stops. If this life is all there is, that accumulation simply ends. Something about that does not hold together.
This is video 3 in the Introduction to Martinus course. The Danish thinker Martinus Thomsen offers not a belief but a map: the living being continues, development accumulates as capacity rather than memory, and what you send out completes a circuit and returns to you. That is what he means by reincarnation and karma — not punishment, but the only way to understand what something feels like from both sides.
Behind it sits a larger structure — what Martinus calls the spiral cycle (spiralkredsløbet): six kingdoms of experience, with humanity currently mid-transition between the animal and the human. That is why the world looks unfinished. On this account, it is unfinished.
