Karma is often described as a system of reward and punishment. But that explanation does not seem to match life: good people suffer, cruel people prosper, and many of the things we experience do not appear to have a cause in this life.

Martinus offers a different way to understand karma — not as punishment, but as consequence. What we send out eventually returns to us, not because a judge is keeping score, but because experience gradually teaches us what it means to affect another living being.

In this video, we explore:

– why Martinus calls karma the fate principle;
– why he compares it to a mirror rather than a system of reward and punishment;
– why reincarnation is necessary for the idea of karma to make sense;
– how unconscious memories of suffering can become compassion;
– why karma is not a measure-for-measure punishment system;
– how experience, suffering, and wisdom are connected.

The central idea is simple but demanding: compassion is not merely a moral decision or a personality trait. It is lived experience that has gradually become wisdom.

This is part of the Introduction to Martinus course, exploring the Danish thinker Martinus Thomsen and the world picture he described.
