Essays in Martinus Cosmology

1 One of the people who has had a deep insight into the course of evolution and the eternal laws of existence, is the Danish writer and intuition-talented Martinus Thomsen, who lived from 1890 until 1981. Martinus Thomsen used the name Martinus for his writings. He felt himself selected, after an intensive divine inspiration, to reveal the spiritual knowledge that Christ had as his central message. He was born in the small town of Sindal in North Jylland, and during school education and preparations for confirmation he was introduced to the Lutheran-evangelical Christianity. He learned, among other things, that there would be a curse upon children that were born outside of marriage, and also that a child that died before it was baptised would not get to heaven. Already at this point he was convinced that this must be entirely wrong. |

2 Throughout his 60 years of authorship, Martinus wrote thousands of pages where among other things he explains and justifies the life of Christ and his way of being and mission in relation to the message of neighbourly love. The qualification for this unique authorship was given to Martinus at the age of 30, when he had an unusual experience, that had epoch-making importance for the rest of his life. He experienced the gaining of cosmic consciousness, which few people of this earth until now have experienced. This means to be introduced to the eternal wisdom of the universe. These understandings for Martinus became permanent, in such a way that by using concentration, at any time through pure intuition, he could see the essence or the ready- made solution of any philosophical or spiritual problem. These keys or solutions were analysed by him, so that they became available for common human intelligence. The best overall description is to be found in the catalogue of English Publictions. This is:- Martinus' entire output is known collectively as "The Third Testament", and comprises "Livets Bog(The Book of Life)" in 7 volumes, "The Eternal World Picture" in 4 volumes (symbols with explanations) and about 30 shorter books, together with numerous articles published in the magazine Kosmos. See the literature list for those publications available in English. |

3 Martinus saw as his mission to bring forward his knowledge about the future human evolution by intellectualizing the eternal truths and thus evoke an understanding based on intelligence of the divine cosmos and mankinds' own placement therein. The purpose of these intellectualized analyses was also to give humanity a possibility to absorb themselves in the proposition that shows that the cosmos is built up on a logical basis and that "all is very good". This insight and understanding will at first be of a theoretical nature, but in the longer term it will greatly help every person in his or her humane development and thus prepare for the next large step of development: the initiation to cosmic consciousness.

4 Martinus emphasizes, that his explanations are not the only saving faith for all human beings [1]. He encourages that his thoughts are tried and examined practically, and are not to be accepted without critisism through blind faith. It has in no way been the purpose of Martinus' work to create a new religion. He offers his knowledge and his spiritual works to the disposal of the entire humanity and to the benefit and joy of everyone. Whether any person will acccept this knowledge is his or hers own decision. |

5 With respect to science with all its ramifications, Martinus sees no opposition to spiritual science. On the contrary, it is his belief that it is only a matter of time, before the scientifically-interested person discovers, that we can find satisfying answers in a world picture of spiritual science, where nothing is left to chance circumstances. Science as it looks today, is in Martinus´ understanding an absolutly necessary step of development. It is through the research of matter, that everyone can develop their intelligence, and it is science that will supply the basis for the materialistic creation of the future world nation. Gradually every person develops their intellect and gathers new wisdom, both within the material sciences as well as research in higher morals, and in the long term this also gives access to insights about the cosmic laws that are the basis of the construction of the entire universe. |

The purpose of the following, is to shed light over an idea of the universe with an eternal nature, as told through Martinus' spiritual science or cosmology. According to it, there is a logical connection between the deeper understanding and performance of neighbourly love and the emergence of peace and a state of harmony on earth, which Christ heralded about two thousand years ago. A harmony that corresponds to the entire fundamental tone of the universe, which is unlimited love.
